Position: Senior Software Engineer (SpaceOps Team)
Senior Software Engineer (Space Ops Team)
At Spire, the Space Operations Software team prepares for growth by automating mission management, monitoring telemetry, and providing tools to analyze constellation performance.

Responsibilities

Analyze telemetry from ground and space assets to ensure reliable performance.

Build applications for visualizing and analyzing satellite telemetry.

Build applications for monitoring ground station and satellite status, and control satellite operations.

Develop software for automatic fault detection, isolation, and recovery operations for the spacecraft.

Work with satellite operations and ground station teams to translate user needs into system requirements and collaborate on project iterations.

Basic Qualifications

3+ years professional experience writing web backend.

5+ years professional software engineering.

Demonstrated ability to apply data analysis techniques to solve complex technical and business problems.

Familiarity with Linux, including Bash scripting and basic system administration.

Proficiency developing and deploying containers for development and production environments.

Strong Candidates

5+ years of experience with system and web application development using Python.

Familiarity with data backends like S3, RDS, Postgres, Redis, and Elasticsearch.

Experience with Django.

Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.

Familiarity with Python data visualization libraries.

Experience with Typescript and React.

Experience implementing monitoring and alerting systems using Grafana, Prometheus, or Nagios.

Work Model
Spire operates a hybrid work model. This position requires a minimum of three business days per week in the office.

Salary
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $116,000 — $152,000 CAD. Final base salary will be based on location, skills, experience, and qualifications. In addition to base compensation, this role may be eligible for annual equity awards and Spire’s employee benefits program, including vacation, sick, and personal time off; optional medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage; a Registered Retirement Savings Plan;

health and wellness reimbursement program; and participation in Spire’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
