As an IT Support Engineer at Cellular Origins, you’ll help build and protect the digital backbone that keeps our teams moving. From laptops and servers to networks and cloud services, you’ll keep the basics rock solid so our scientists and engineers can focus on bringing life changing therapies to patients faster.
Job DescriptionAbout the role
This is a hands-on role where you’ll support environment across our Melbourn campus. You’ll work across 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support, lead technical improvements, liaise with team members on trickier issues.
This role will provide opportunities to strengthen and expand the skills you possess in areas such as; device management and cybersecurity, while shaping how we use Microsoft 365, Azure, Intune and modern endpoint tools as we grow.
What you’ll do
You’ll be part of a small, collaborative IT team, supporting colleagues on site and remotely. Day to day, you’ll help make sure systems are reliable, secure and simple to use.
You will:
- Provide 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support to internal users, troubleshooting issues and keeping people productive.
- Help to develop our Microsoft 365 environment, as we grow.
- Administer Microsoft Azure services so they are available, performant and aligned with business needs.
- Lead device lifecycle management using Microsoft Intune and Autopilot, from deployment and configuration through to ongoing support.
- Carry out routine Windows Server maintenance, including patching, monitoring and performance tuning.
- Maintain Active Directory and group policies to keep identities, access and permissions in good shape.
- Manage and monitor Veeam backups, helping to protect critical data and support rapid recovery when needed.
- Support hybrid telephony systems such as 8x8 and Microsoft Teams, keeping communication smooth across the organisation.
- Maintain and secure corporate mobile devices with modern MDM tools.
- Contribute to infrastructure and security improvements, including networking, device management and endpoint security projects.
You’ll also play a key role in technical projects, acting as a trusted escalation point and helping to shape how IT evolves as Cellular Origins scales.
QualificationsAbout you
You enjoy solving problems, helping people and making systems work better every week than they did the week before. You are as comfortable talking to a colleague who is stuck with Teams as you are diving into a server, firewall or Intune profile.
You’ll bring:
- Strong IT support experience, from 1st through to 3rd line.
- Solid hands‑on experience with Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, Microsoft 365 and Active Directory.
- Good knowledge of Veeam backups and virtualisation tools such as VMware.
- Experience with networking hardware, ideally including HP Aruba and Clear Pass.
- Confidence working independently in a small team, managing your own workload and meeting deadlines.
- Willingness to work fully on site at our Melbourn campus.
It would be great, though not essential, if you also have:
- Exposure to Power Shell scripting and automation.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Entra, MDM policies and security compliance.
- Familiarity with server builds, storage and AV or telephony systems.
- Certifications such as ITIL, CompTIA Network+ or A+, or Windows certifications.
- Experience with Oracle Net Suite.
- Experience supporting Office 365 migration or consolidation projects.
