Manufacturing Technician – 3-Month FTC (Potential to Go Permanent)
Location:
Royston
Rate: £15 per hour + overtime available
Vacancies: 6 positions available
Start:
January
Are you a hands-on technician with a passion for engineering, technology, and making things work? We’re supporting an innovative manufacturer in Royston who are building next-generation robotic equipment — and they’re looking for multiple Manufacturing Technicians to join their team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure to cutting-edge mechatronic systems, with full training provided and a strong chance of the role becoming permanent.
What you’ll be doing
Working within a small, collaborative team, you’ll get involved in both assembly and testing of advanced robotic modules, as well as supporting refurbishment and upgrades of an existing fleet. Your day-to-day will include:
Mechanical & electrical assembly
• Working with PCBAs, sensors, cabling, motors and drive systems
• Following SOPs in a modern, lean, cell-based manufacturing environment
Testing & diagnostics
• Running system tests on modules and complete robots
• Conducting performance checks and fault finding
• Diagnosing issues on returned equipment and supporting repair activities
Continuous improvement & lean involvement
• Participating in daily stand-ups and 5S activities
• Raising and resolving bugs and rework items
• Supporting kaizen events and process improvements
What we’re looking for
You don’t need decades of experience, just strong hands-on capability and a passion for engineering.
Post-18 study in an engineering, manufacturing or science subject (or ambition to do so)
Practical experience with mechanical or electrical assemblies
Good mechanical dexterity
Problem-solving mindset
Must be eligible to work in the UK
Why apply?
Opportunity to work on cutting-edge robotic systems
Training in lean manufacturing, problem-solving and advanced testing
Supportive team environment
Overtime available
