What You Will Be Doing- Leading and Motivating Volunteers:
Inspire and guide volunteers to help amplify IWM's impact. - Daily Coordination:
Organise rotas, conduct briefings, assign duties, and ensure welfare checks. - Training and Support:
Deliver elements of the volunteer training programme and ensure volunteers are inducted, prepared, and supported throughout their journey. - Stakeholder
Collaboration:
Work closely with teams across Visitor Experience, Learning & Engagement, Membership, Conservation, Digital, and Curatorial. - Volunteer Recruitment and Retention:
Support campaigns and selection processes to build a committed and valued volunteer team. - Database Management:
Use Better Impact software to manage rotas and report on volunteer activity. - Income Generation:
Promote IWM's products and services, including membership, shops, cafes, and events. - Maintaining Standards:
Ensure compliance with health and safety, uphold IWM values, and act as an ambassador for the museum. - This role requires flexibility, including weekend, evening, and public holiday work, and may involve travel across IWM sites.
- Experience working with the public or in a customer-facing role, ideally in heritage or tourism.
- Knowledge and experience of working with volunteers.
- Minimum GCSEs (or equivalent) Grade A-C in Maths and English.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and build rapport with diverse individuals.
- Confident in presenting information to varied audiences.
- Experience managing or leading volunteer programmes.
- Familiarity with Better Impact or similar volunteer management software.
