Veterinary Receptionist - Cambridge Float

Location: Village Vet (Milton, Longstanton, Cottenham, Royston and Whittlesford)
Job type: Part‑time
Hours: Approximately 35 hours per week, flexibly scheduled on a 4‑week cycle. May vary week to week.
Village Vet Cambridge have a fantastic opportunity for a Float Client Care Assistant for our Cambridgeshire veterinary practices! This front‑of‑house reception role covers our practices at Milton, Longstanton, Cottenham, Royston and Whittlesford and requires a very flexible, sociable and adaptable person with a passion for amazing customer service.
Your Role & Responsibilities- Welcome clients and their pets into the branches with efficiency, courtesy and a friendly attitude.
- Manage and book appointments in a professional and efficient manner.
- Answer calls and communicate with veterinary practices, insurance companies and clients while maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Support the business with a range of administrative duties.
- Maintain a high level of attention to detail.
- Work well in a fast‑paced environment while consistently delivering excellent customer service and completing all tasks to a high standard.
- Show awareness of financial control within the practice and follow up with clients for outstanding payments.
- Experience dealing with customers in a customer‑facing role.
- Previous veterinary experience is desirable but not essential.
- A proactive, positive attitude.
- Adapt well to learning a new system if no prior experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly motivated to provide excellent service to clients and the practice.
- Works well within a team and is a positive team member.
- Ability to work at a fast pace under pressure, manage own workload and work independently when the branch runs at a slower pace.
- Professional approach to work.
- Excellent administration, organisational and time‑management skills with keen attention to detail.
- Proficient IT skills – Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
