Marks and Spencer is looking for a Designate Store Manager to lead the full operation in a fast‑changing retail environment. You’ll own the retail plan, deliver against the P&L, and create a store where customers love to shop and colleagues are proud to work in.

As a Store Manager, you’ll lead from the front, build high‑performance teams, set the pace, and drive results across commercial, operational, visual, and people performance. This role is ideal for resilient, commercial leaders who bring clarity, accountability and ambition to every part of the operation, from standards and service to profit and people.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of the full retail plan across the store, driving commercial, operational, visual and people performance to deliver against the P&L.
  • Set the strategy and direction for the store, ensuring every colleague knows their role and is held accountable for delivering it.
  • Own the change agenda and land transformation initiatives with clarity, urgency and pace.
  • Build a high‑performance culture by coaching managers, growing talent and creating a store people want to join and stay in.
  • Use data and insight to unlock opportunity, making fast, confident decisions that drive profit, improve service and boost efficiency.
  • Drive digital adoption and omnichannel capability – helping teams sell across all platforms and channels.
  • Be the voice of the store – representing people, speaking candidly and owning the follow‑through on improvements.
  • Create an exceptional customer journey through consistent standards, inspiring visual merchandising and diverse teams that go the extra mile.
Qualifications
  • A proven leader of large teams in a fast‑paced retail environment, with a sharp focus on delivery, standards and results.
  • Confident across all areas of store performance, including commercial, visual, operations and people, and able to bring them together for impact.
  • A clear and direct communicator, with the courage to make tough calls and the skill to bring colleagues along.
  • Strong skills in planning, performance management and resilience; able to balance the big picture with detail and set expectations.
  • Confident using digital tools, data and systems to make better, faster decisions and coach others to do the same.
  • Skilled in building partnerships across your team, peer network and region to share insights, solve problems and drive transformation.
  • Lead with purpose, own the outcomes and raise the bar – own your store and shape the future of M&S.
