* As a Software Engineer here at Illumina in Cambridge, you’ll be part of the DRAGEN Team—a dynamic group driving innovation in genomic data analysis and automation. This team is central to shaping the future of genomic testing infrastructure, and your work will directly accelerate scientific discovery. You’ll collaborate with bioinformatics scientists, software engineers, and verification experts to build scalable systems and automation frameworks that support our cutting-edge genomic workflows.

** Why You
** You’re a passionate software engineer with a strong foundation in programming and a keen interest in bioinformatics. You thrive in Linux environments and are comfortable working with cloud technologies. You bring experience in Python, Java, C#, or C++, and ideally have exposure to CI/CD tools and automated testing frameworks. Familiarity with database design, web development, or data visualisation tools is a plus.
Whether you come from a bioinformatics background or are eager to learn, your curiosity and drive to innovate will be key to your success in this role.

**** Automation & Verification Frameworks
*** Design and develop automated software verification frameworks for genomic analysis tools
* Ensure robustness and scalability across verification workflows
** Collaboration & Tool Development
*** Partner with bioinformatics scientists to design, troubleshoot, and optimise tools for large-scale genomic datasets
* Translate scientific requirements into reliable software solutions
** Infrastructure & Platform Enhancement
*** Improve CI/CD pipelines and internal databases
* Enhance web platforms used for verification and reporting
** Quality & Process Improvement
*** Participate in code and design reviews to uphold high software standards
* Drive continuous improvement across the software development lifecycle
