• Term Position – Up to 2 years
Located on Vancouver Island, the City of Campbell River offers a rare combination of a welcoming small‑town feel with large‑city amenities. We are a 45‑minute drive from the winter and summer activities of Mount Washington, and just minutes from more than 100 km of all levels of mountain biking and hiking trails, plus easy access to the ocean, rivers and lakes for sports fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding and whale watching.
RoleAs part of the integrated Development Engineering team, you will work in a fast‑paced and customer focused environment. Reporting to the Development Engineering Supervisor, you will be actively involved in a variety of technical tasks in all aspects of municipal operations systems including general department inquiries and correspondence; responding to BC One Calls; investigating municipal statutory rights of way; reviewing and approving various engineering permits;
drawing reviews related to building permit applications; and performing field inspections as required.
The rate of pay for this CUPE bargaining unit position is $41.07 per hour, based on a 40‑hour work week. This position is eligible for flexible work arrangements which may include one of the following: compressed work week, earned day off or varied hours.
Qualifications- Two (2) year Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or related field from a recognized post‑secondary educational institution.
- Introductory training in mapping and/or GIS applications.
- Must possess and maintain valid driver’s licence and provide and maintain a clear driver’s abstract, as per City policy.
- Minimum of one (1) year related experience in simple design, layout, construction, and as‑built recording of civil municipal projects within the past five (5) years or an equivalent combination of experience and training/education.
- Eligibility for registration with the Applied Science and Technologists Association of BC (ASTTBC).
