Responsible for programming, debugging, installation, and startup of new or modified production and test equipment, focusing on electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and controls installation. Lead a team of Controls Specialists, providing support, guidance, and direction. Maintain equipment documentation systems by obtaining and updating technical reference manuals, instructions, and electrical schematics for long-term service.

  • What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Ensuring the adherence to ISO 45001, ISO 14001, IATF 16949, ISO 9001 all Stackpole International policies and any other industry standards in all activities

  • Reports to the Manufacturing Manager

  • Collaborate with Mechanical Design, Project, and Process Management teams to support the design, build, and commissioning of new automation equipment, including assembly lines, robotic cells for material handling, test equipment, and similar systems

  • Responsible for leading a team of Controls Specialists

  • Participates in design review and reports daily progress for meetings

  • Supports labour cost estimates and coordinates in-house, and subcontractors actions as needed

  • Completion of run-at-rate process performance testing in conjunction with manufacturing operations

  • Develops and maintains programming checklists to ensure program validation

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting as needed

  • Offers guidance to everyone to foster and encourage personal development

  • Support the creation of training requirements

  • Determine budget requirements for new products and design tools

  • Adhere to JE Safety, Environmental, Quality, and Production Systems

  • Set and uphold standards for controls, programming, and electrical design

  • Knowledge of electrical design, including component selection and basic electrical troubleshooting

  • Serve as a Technical Lead Hand and team member to plan, direct, coordinate, and assist with the installation of new automated assembly equipment

  • Comprehend and align with the short and long-term objectives of the Controls Team

  • Programming PLCs, HMIs, robots, vision and motion systems, safety controllers etc.

  • Set up of controls networks (Ethernet/IP, Ethercat …)

  • Recommend processes, procedures, components and methods for standardization

  • Collaborates closely with the Controls Team and Program Managers to establish schedules and monitor project timelines, ensuring customer satisfaction and on-time delivery compliance

  • Customer support during equipment commissioning

  • Continuously improving standards and systems to improve overall performance effectiveness

  • Travel among Johnson Electric locations as required

  • Other duties as assigned / required

  • What We’re Looking For:

  • A technical degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or similar and relevant industrial experience

  • 5+ yrs experience in an automation/controls environment

  • Hands on technical skills with respect to Electrical Systems, Hydraulic Systems, Pneumatic Systems.

  • Expert level in PLC programming (Omron NJ/Allen Bradley) and Robot programming (Fanuc/Yaskawa/Kuka)

  • Knowledge of Labview based systems and ability to program them is asset

  • Understanding of the SQL database and related software

  • Excellent communications, negotiating, conflict management, and problem-solving skills

  • Capable of effective communication, both written and verbal, across all levels of the organization

  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation

  • Familiarity with automotive systems and quality requirements in accordance with IATF 16949/ISO
    9001 operating systems
