Position Summary
The Department of National Defense has a requirement for Joint Support Ships, which are the replacement Vessels for HMCS PROTECTEUR and HMCS PRESERVER. The principal role of the JSS is to provide support to deployed naval forces in the form of fuel, ammunition, provisions, and other materiel. This facilitates longer periods at sea in distant waters without reliance on the support of other nations.

The JSS will also provide limited sealift and support to operations-ashore capabilities. Vancouver Shipyards Co. Ltd. Thales Canada, Defence & Security has been subcontracted by VSY with the role of the Electronic Systems Integrator (ESI) for the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS) non-combatant shipbuilding projects awarded to VSY.

Thales Canada is looking for an Intermediate Shipboard Systems Engineer to join the JSS build program that is currently underway. The systems engineer will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that designs, develops, and tests electronic shipboard systems for the JSS program. The work will involve delivering Engineering work products, managing subcontractors, and the planning, preparation for, and execution of engineering changes and commissioning and set-to-work activities.
