The Ministry of Parks, Culture, and Sport’s mission is to enhance economic growth and support quality of life by managing the provincial parks system and providing recreation, sport, heritage, and cultural opportunities for residents and visitors. The Ministry is currently seeking a dynamic and highly motivated individual who is a flexible team player for the position of Park Maintenance Worker for provincial park lands within Fort Carlton Provincial Park of Saskatchewan Parks Service.
Reporting to the Supervisor, this position will be involved in the maintenance program.
As a Park Maintenance Worker, you will perform a variety of repair and general maintenance activities on buildings and grounds. Operate light to heavy equipment such as tractors with loaders, gravel and sewer trucks, light trucks, mowers, skid steer, snowmobiles, ATVs, chainsaws, power tools, and other equipment as directed. You will perform janitorial and sanitation functions, pick up and disposal of garbage and debris.
Assist with maintenance and care of park facilities and grounds. In addition, you will assist with the monitoring and inspection of the water systems and sewer systems under the direction of the supervisor. This position may be responsible for a Class 1 Water System. This position involves frequent lifting, carrying, and moving supplies and equipment. Comply with risk management standards, OH&S, Public Health Regulations, WHMIS, and TDG.
Candidate must possess a current valid Driver’s License. Candidate must be available to work on weekends.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of basic cleaning methods (materials, equipment, and methods commonly used in housekeeping/janitorial and sanitation activities); safe equipment and building operation, maintenance, and minor repair. You will have knowledge of WHMIS and OH&S Regulations. You will have knowledge of Small Water Treatment and Distribution/ Class 1 Water System.
The successful candidate will have experience and the ability to perform building and/or park maintenance, using common hand tools and light equipment. You will have the ability to work independently and/or as a contributing member of a park team to complete work assignments and contribute towards a positive working environment. You may be required to supervise other staff. You will have the ability to respond accurately, clearly, and courteously to inquiries from the general public.
You will have the ability to identify problems, consider various options, and determine an appropriate course of action, physically perform tasks such as lifting, carrying, or moving supplies and equipment such as picnic tables and cleaning supplies, and pumps.
