The Opportunity
This role helps lead a planting line during peak production and supports Team Leaders with day-to-day crew coordination across the greenhouse. You'll keep the line running smoothly by helping staff stay on pace, following quality and safety standards, and supporting onboarding and on-the-floor training. You're expected to step into hands-on planting and general greenhouse tasks as needed to keep production moving.

Core Responsibilities
Planting Line Leadership
- Lead your planting line to hit hourly and daily output targets.
- Assign tasks, set the pace, and keep the crew on track.
- Check quality continuously (tray counts, depth, spacing, accuracy).
- Adjust workflow when bottlenecks appear.
- Train new or rotating staff on the line.
- Communicate issues or labour needs to the Team Leaders.
Greenhouse Crew Support
- Assist Team Leaders in running crews across tasks such as spacing, consolidating, trimming, potting, and cleaning.
- Help direct workers and keep them on pace.
- Reinforce instructions and clarify tasks.
- Support training of new hires or temporary workers.
- Step into hands-on work when needed to keep crews moving.
- Act as the extra set of eyes and hands for Team Leaders during busy days.
Workflow & Standards
- Ensure workers are following safety protocols and using tools/equipment properly.
- Monitor quality and flag issues early.
- Help keep work areas tidy, safe, and efficient.
- Communicate clearly and consistently with Team Leaders and the Operations Manager.
Qualifications
- Experience in greenhouse, production, or similar fast-paced labour environment.
- Comfortable giving direction to small groups and supporting a team leader.
- Strong communication skills - straightforward, clear, consistent.
- Able to stay focused, organized, and steady under pressure.
- Physically capable of full-shift labour work.
- Reliable attendance and willingness to step into varied tasks.
