Located within the Behchoko Health Centre and reporting directly to the Nurse in Charge (NIC) the Nurse Practitioner provides advanced clinical health assessment, diagnosis, nursing care and services to clients (individuals, families and groups) on a routine and emergency basis to: promote a healthy lifestyle; prevent and/or reduce incidence of disease, disability and death; support rehabilitation and restore health; or support the client to die comfortably and with dignity.
The incumbent develops care plans and provides treatment within the Nurse Practitioner scope of practice. The Nurse Practitioner may be required to travel to the outlying communities of Gameti, Whati and Wek'weeti to provide service. The incumbent may also be required to provide on-call emergency coverage evenings and weekends on a rotational basis in Behchoko.
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
A Nursing Degree, master degree (qualifying the incumbent as a Nurse Practitioner) and two (2) years of recent nurse practitioner experience in an Emergency Room (ER) setting or within a Community Health Centre.
Additional Requirements:
Proof of immunization in keeping with current public health practices is required.
Registration as a Nurse Practitioner with College and Association of Nurses of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (CANNN).

Labour Market Supplement
The successful incumbent will receive a $12,000 supplement upon hire and an additional $12,000 supplement after completion of 12 months of continuous employment contingent on remaining employed in an eligible position for a further 12 months. This is a taxable benefit and will be subject to applicable deductions.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is from $68.30 per hour to $81.59 per hour (approximately $133,185 - $159,101) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $5,610.
