Job Description
A large consulting company with offices across South Africa is looking for a Quantity Surveyor.
Minimum requirements:
• BSc Quantity Surveying
• BSc Quantity Surveying (Honours)
• Professionally Registered with the Council of South African Quantity Surveyors
• Experience in Government Contracts and knowledge of the PFMA, JBCC, NEC, FIDIC, GCC and COLTO Conditions of Contracts.
• Schools, Clinics, Hospitals, Renovation and Upgrade projects, Transport Taxi Ranks, Libraries, Shopping Centres, Office blocks and Housing developments.
• Projects between R50milj – R1

• 3+ years (Post registration not particularly necessary).
Your responsibilities will include:
• Managing costs on a wide variety of new and existing building projects and structures, such as residential developments, sports stadiums, roads and bridges, schools, hospitals, offices, factories, and commercial properties.
• Undertaking costs analysis for repair and maintenance project work.
• Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use.
• Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations.
• Assisting in establishing a client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies.
• Performing risk and value management, cost control and value engineering.
• Advising on procurement strategy, contract documentation and financial control.
• Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities, returnable schedules and Preliminaries & General.
• Identifying, analysing, and developing responses to commercial risks.
• Preparing and analysing costing for tenders, tender evaluation, tender adjudication, and appointment of contractors and/or sub-contractors.
• Providing advice on contractual claims, variation orders, site instructions, escalation and final accounts.
• Analysing outcomes and writing detailed inception-, progress-, preliminary design-, final design reports.
• Valuing completed work and arranging payments.
• Assisting the Bids Department with write-ups to be used for tender purposes for future QS work.
• Calculation of escalation, penalties, monthly payment certificates and the reconciliation of the final account and close out report.
• Preparation of monthly cost report / financial reports on projects.
• Measurement of rentable areas.
• Cash-flows.
• Targeted procurement including training and monitoring.
• Offering advice on property taxation.
• Comply with Delta BEC Standards, Methodology and Procedures the contractor.
