Registered Nurse; Theatre Scrub Trained

• Post Basic Qualification in Theatre (essential)
• Cardiac Experience is highly advantageous
• Degree/Diploma in General Nursing
• SANC Registered
• Minimum 3-4 years’ Experience as a Theatre Scrub Nurse

• Provide perioperative nursing care as a Scrub in accordance with theatre standards.
• Prepare and maintain a sterile surgical environment, ensuring all instruments and equipment are sterilised and ready for procedures.
• Assist surgeons during operations by anticipating needs, handling instruments, and ensuring patient safety.
• Monitor patients’ vital signs pre-, intra-, and post‑operatively, ensuring effective recovery and continuity of care.
• Manage the safe handling and counting of swabs, needles, and instruments.
• Support anaesthetists during induction and recovery phases, including airway management and monitoring.
• Maintain accurate and complete perioperative documentation, including theatre registers and instrument checklists.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control standards throughout surgical procedures.
• Participate in theatre audits, stock control, and equipment maintenance.
• Work collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other team members to ensure seamless surgical workflow.
• Provide mentorship and orientation to new theatre staff and student nurses.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and training in theatre techniques and safety standards.
