Based in Cardiff, our newsroom delivers content that helps people understand the world around them. As a Junior Production Coordinator Apprentice, you’ll support the team by keeping operations running smoothly – helping ensure reporters, crews and editors have what they need to bring news to audiences every day.
This is our entry level position into production management; you will work as a Production Management Assistant, supporting our Production Managers and Production Coordinators in creating quality content for all of our output, which may include TV, audio, online, events and digital platforms.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACTAs a Junior Production Coordinator apprentice with BBC Wales - News
, this is a brilliant opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute – you may demonstrate the following:
- Organise travel and logistics for reporters and crews, including international assignments
- Assist with scheduling and managing staff training sessions, keeping records up to date
- Support sustainability projects that reduce environmental impact in production
- Help plan and deliver internal and external events for staff and audiences
- Work with editorial and technical teams to make sure resources are ready for live and recorded news output
On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will be able to apply for job roles such as a Production Management Assistant, Production Secretary or Production Coordinator, depending on experience both inside and outside of the BBC.

You’ll study for your industry recognised apprenticeship qualification, learning both on the job at the BBC and off the job with our chosen education provider. The academic study involves attending instructor‑led workshops; tutorial sessions; presentations and group work. Throughout your apprenticeship, you will be asked to gather a portfolio while working towards a Level 3 apprenticeship qualification.
This apprenticeship will give you a thorough knowledge and understanding of what it is like to work in production management and the media industry, which you can then utilise during your time at the BBC and afterwards in the wider industry.
