The Building Performance team supports the UK business with energy, carbon and holistic sustainability advice in the Built Environment. The role reports to the Regional Building Performance Lead and helps develop and grow the team’s offering across a range of sectors, with client-facing responsibilities to define and fulfil strategic net zero operational energy, embodied carbon and sustainability targets.
What you will do- Lead the delivery of sustainable building solutions, focusing on building performance modelling for a diverse project portfolio.
- Act as the sustainability lead for independent management of your projects and coordinate sustainability across design teams and stakeholders.
- Develop the approach for sustainability across significant portfolios and major frameworks.
- Increase WSP’s industry profile, help secure new work, and improve the quality and technical knowledge related to sustainable design.
- Undertake business development activities including engaging with clients and industry professionals and leveraging existing UK client relationships.
- Understand and translate client sustainability briefs into deliverable delivery models.
- Coordinate sustainability delivery across internal and external teams; identify opportunities for cross-selling services.
- Support the growth of the team through recruitment and development of staff.
- Prepare high-quality reports that clearly communicate issues and conclusions.
- Apply current UK sustainability legislation to project solutions at all governance levels.
- Expert knowledge and demonstrable experience in building performance modelling, including Part L compliance, TM52/59 overheating assessments and TM54 operational energy assessments.
- Understanding of energy strategy development for complex, multi-use developments.
- Understanding of Net Zero, Low Carbon Design and materials.
- Experience managing internal and project budgets; bid support with business and commercial acumen.
- Knowledge of the construction process and sustainable design implications.
- Understanding of BREEAM and other environmental assessment methodologies; knowledge of UK planning policies related to sustainability.
- Ability to communicate complex technical information to clients and stakeholders; strong presentation and time management skills.
- Able to coordinate and provide training to junior consultants; able to obtain UK Security Check (SC).
- Degree in engineering/environmental/architectural or sustainability-related subject.
- Membership of a related professional institution and progression toward/achievement of Chartered status.
- Low Carbon Energy Assessor (LCEA); NABERS assessor.
