Senior/Principal Reliability (RAM) Engineer - Rail

Responsibilities- Managing RAM processes according to sector standards (e.g., EN 50126) and performing relevant activities such as planning, analysing, verifying and reporting.
- Leading the RAM team to deliver planned activities and managing sub‑contractors.
- Facilitating cross‑functional collaboration and integration, including stakeholder management.
- Providing expertise to support bids, advisory and strategic decisions, and to maintain client relationships.
- Mentoring junior RAM members and acting as a focal point for technical guidance.
- Encouraging and promoting the innovation and implementation of new techniques and tools to improve efficiency.
- Promoting the WSP brand through engagement with industry partners, professional institutions and by presenting papers at conferences and events.
- A degree in a technical engineering discipline or extensive relevant experience.
- RAM engineering experience (rail experience desirable but not essential).
- Corporate membership with an appropriate professional institution (e.g., SAR, IET, IMechE).
- Professional registration as a Chartered Engineer or significant progression towards that goal.
- Proven ability to deliver RAM activities and provide technical leadership to a team of RAM and Safety engineers.
- Proven ability to support RAM and Safety engineering activities, including creating supporting arguments and evidence.
- Experience liaising with regulatory and independent parties/bodies.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in the application of the EN 50126 series and related standards.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a multi‑disciplined team.
- Knowledge of mainline or metro railway systems (e.g., signalling, control systems, rolling stock, traction power, depots).
- Experience working on international projects.
- Experience in other sectors (e.g., aviation, nuclear, oil & gas, defence).
- Mixed experience in consultancy and supplier/clients side environment.
