We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a busy and growing building services consultancy in Cardiff. This is an excellent opportunity to lead mechanical engineering design projects across commercial, residential, healthcare, education, and industrial sectors. As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
, you’ll have autonomy over your work, manage multi-disciplinary projects, mentor junior engineers, and help shape the technical direction of the business.

• Lead mechanical design and engineering on projects from concept through to completion
• Prepare and review detailed calculations, specifications, and design documentation
• Produce high-quality drawings and BIM/Revit models
• Manage project deliverables including design risk assessments, client liaison, and coordination with multi-disciplinary teams
• Mentor and support junior and intermediate engineers
• Ensure designs comply with UK standards and regulations (CIBSE, Building Regulations, Part L)
• Stay updated with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and sustainability trends
• Contribute to business development and maintain strong client relationships

• Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (BEng, MEng, or equivalent)
• Typically 6+ years’ experience in mechanical building services consultancy
• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, heating, ventilation, cooling, and renewable technologies
• Proficient with AutoCAD, Revit, and mechanical calculation tools
• Proven ability to manage projects and lead design teams
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Understanding of UK building regulations, CIBSE guides, and sustainable design principles
• Chartered status (CEng, MCIBSE) preferred but not essential
