Personal Tax Manager / Senior Manager – Cardiff (Hybrid)
Location: Cardiff Gate Business Park
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Working Pattern: Hybrid (typically 2–3 days in the office)
Parking: Free on-site parking available
Clark Wood are working with a leading accountancy practice in Cardiff who are seeking an experienced Personal Tax Manager or Senior Manager to join their growing private client tax team. This is a compliance‑focused position, offering the chance to manage a high‑quality portfolio whilst enjoying a balanced hybrid working arrangement in modern offices at Cardiff Gate.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a varied portfolio of personal tax clients, including high‑net‑worth individuals, company directors, landlords, and sole traders
- Lead and review the preparation of Self Assessment tax returns and associated compliance work
- Ensure compliance deadlines are met and that all work is completed to a high technical standard
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, delivering clear and proactive communication
- Review work prepared by junior staff and provide mentoring, training, and technical support
- Identify potential advisory opportunities and liaise with senior leadership where appropriate
- Maintain an up‑to‑date understanding of UK tax legislation and HMRC requirements
- Contribute to internal process improvements and the development of best practice within the tax team
- CTA and/or ACA/ACCA qualified (or qualified by experience)
- Strong background in personal tax compliance within an accountancy practice environment
- Confident reviewing returns and managing a busy and varied client portfolio
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills
- Comfortable supporting and developing junior team members
- Proactive, well‑organised, and able to work effectively within a hybrid structure
- Hybrid working model (typically 2–3 days a week in the office)
