Are you a hands-on Management Accountant or an Assistant Management Accountant looking to progress into a Management Accountant. This role will take ownership of the finance function within a successful, growing SME. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established manufacturing business in Cardiff, where you’ll report into the Financial Controller as their key finance partner.

The Management Accountant plays a critical role in providing accurate financial information and analysis to support operational and strategic decision-making. In a manufacturing environment, this position focuses on cost control, budgeting, and performance monitoring to ensure profitability and efficiency across production processes.

Key Responsibilities:

* Maintenance of Cash Book, Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger, Fixed Asset Register

* Supplier Statement Reconciliations and issuing Customer Statement

* Preparation and posting of the monthly journals

* Preparation of trial balance at month end ensuring all appropriate profit & loss, Accruals & Prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations are performed

* Assisting with variance analysis and system reconciliations/analysis

* Assisting with cost analysis reports for raw materials, labour, and overheads

* Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts

* Analyse production costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction

* Support pricing decisions with accurate cost data

* Process weekly payment runs as well as proforma payments

* Assist with year-end statutory accounts & annual tax compliance

* Preparation of VAT returns

About You:

* Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or QBE with strong SME finance experience

* Proven track record in management accounting, VAT compliance, and month-end processes

* Commercially minded, with the ability to partner with non-finance stakeholders

* Hands-on, self-sufficient, and comfortable working as the sole finance professional

* Strong systems and Excel skills; experience with SME/ERP systems an advantage

* Previous manufacturing sector experience desirable but not essential
