About the RoleWe provide a dynamic and innovative pathway for nurses or paramedics who wish to redirect their career. The role is located in the criminal justice system, delivering health care to detainees in custody suites. You will work closely with the Police and provide round‑the‑clock care in scheduled shifts. Flexibility is required to work in your base custody suite and across an assigned region in the Police Custody Suites and Force area.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver health‑care services to detainees in custody suites, in line with the agreed schedule.
- Maintain high‑standard clinical care and safety for inmates.
- Work with the Police and other agencies to coordinate care and ensure continuity across the region.
- Provide round‑the‑clock coverage and adapt to changing shift patterns.
- Support other health‑care professionals within the facility.
- RN, RGN, or (RMN with dual registration) – minimum 2 years post‑qualification (Band 5 level).
- Paramedic – minimum 2 years post‑qualification.
- At least 2 years post‑qualification experience in a patient‑facing role within relevant fields such as General Practice, A & E, Emergency Medicine, acute medicine, Walk‑in Centres, Substance Misuse Services, Prison Healthcare or Ambulance Service.
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Right to work in the UK:
British passport or ILR for 3 years (no gaps out of the country longer than 3 months). - All candidates will undergo Police vetting.
- Salary: £20,500 per year.
- £500 bonus after completing 12 months of service.
- Estimated overtime: £3,500 per annum.
- Fixed shift rota: 06:45–19:00 day shifts and 18:45–07:00 night shifts, with a 2‑day on/8‑days off rota pattern (rolling rota available 2 years in advance).
