Research Fellow, National Cardiovascular Research Network

Join the National Cardiovascular Research Network (NCRN) through Cardiff Metropolitan University. NCRN is a Health and Care Research Wales funded interdisciplinary collaboration connecting academics, medical and non‑medical health care professionals, industry, and charities to drive cardiovascular research excellence across Wales.

Supported by NCRN, the Centre for Cardiovascular Research, Innovation and Development (CURIAD) at Cardiff Met is launching Research Fellowships to support outstanding cardiovascular researchers and help them develop a distinct research leadership.

How to Apply

Applicants must complete the project plan template at the bottom of this advert and propose a project with a strong cardiovascular focus aligned to the CURIAD research agenda and one or more of NCRN's primary research themes:

  • Vascular Ageing and Clinical Outcome
  • Tackling Arrhythmias and Myocardial Disease
  • Data and Advanced Analytics

Candidates are encouraged to discuss their proposal with CURIAD early in the application process. Fellowships are open to both part‑time and full‑time awards of up to two years. Co‑funding is welcomed but not required.

Responsibilities / Expectations

The successful candidate will lead a programme of cardiovascular research and will be expected to secure competitive peer‑reviewed external funding during their tenure. You will:

  • Plan, develop and implement cutting‑edge research projects.
  • Collaborate across disciplines and build an independent research pathway.
  • Assess, interpret and evaluate research outcomes.
  • Manage the application of regulatory and ethical principles, including ethics and governance procedures.
  • Communicate complex research ideas and findings to diverse audiences.
Qualifications

Applicants should have a background in cardiovascular research, including non‑clinical and clinical health care professionals, as well as those transitioning from other disciplines or industry.
