Introduction
Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellow Post in Nephrology with an anticipated start date of February 2026. This is a 6‑month full‑time (40 hrs) position. It is an unbanded post within the nephrology department of UHW.
Candidate ProfileThe role is ideally suited to a post‑IMT doctor who is considering a future career in nephrology or an allied speciality. Full support and guidance will be provided for application to the specialist training scheme, with the expectation that the successful candidate will obtain a speciality training number by the end of the clinical fellow post.
Responsibilities- Ward cover, on‑call duties and dialysis unit support
- Outpatient clinic cover and training in all renal‑specific procedures
- Participation in a non‑clinical half‑day per week to develop a specific interest related to a nephrology career (e.g., research, teaching, transplant training, AV fistula scanning)
Full training will be offered in all renal‑specific procedures, including ultrasound‑guided renal biopsies. The non‑clinical component is flexible and will accommodate any appropriate requests.
Department OverviewThe Nephrology department cares for approximately 550 patients on haemodialysis, 90 on peritoneal dialysis and over 1000 transplant patients, with around 120 transplants per year across live‑related, deceased donor (DBD & DCD), joint pancreatic‑renal and HLA/ABO incompatible programmes.
