Overview
Calling all Nurse/ Pharmacy/ Other AHP Prescribers – we are looking for a new Independent Prescriber to join our team of six other prescribers in the Virtually Assessed Pathway (VAP Clinic) at Velindre Cancer Centre.
The VAP clinic is an award‑winning service, unique to Velindre Cancer Centre. As an Independent Prescriber you will be part of a small team of nurses and pharmacy technicians, working within the VAP Service and face‑to‑face oncology clinics.
Key responsibilities include
:
- Work as an autonomous prescriber utilising clinical assessment, medication and diagnostic skills to provide and prescribe care and treatment for patients receiving anti‑cancer therapies, within a pre‑determined/agreed scope of practice.
- Support the Virtual Assessment Patient Service as an independent prescriber.
- Support education and development of other staff within scope of practice and ensure evidence‑based use of medicines.
- Provide expert clinical advice and work collaboratively with other health professionals.
- Conduct 40‑50 % of your time as part of site‑specific teams as an independent prescriber in your ‘parent’ SACT pre‑assessment clinics.
- Interpret clinical assessments, blood results and prescribe SACT based on a Band 5/6 assessment.
- Experience in oncology and oncology prescribing would be beneficial but is not essential.
- The role is full‑time but job share or slightly less than full‑time arrangements can be considered for the right candidate.
- Ability to speak Welsh is desirable;
English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome. - Velindre Cancer Centre offers non‑medical prescribing (NMP) clinics for all solid tumour sites, with opportunities for development across a range of specialties.
