Workday Technical Lead
Hybrid - Requires Office attendance just outside of Cardiff 3x a month
Role OverviewThe Workday Technical Lead is responsible for overseeing the technical delivery, configuration, and ongoing support of Workday across the organisation. The role requires deep expertise in Workday integrations, configuration, troubleshooting, and system enhancements, as well as the ability to mentor team members and collaborate closely with HR and technical stakeholders to ensure high-quality delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design, configuration, and implementation of Workday modules, including Absence, Compensation, HCM, Talent (Performance Management), Time Tracking, and Recruiting.
- Design, develop, test, and deploy integrations between Workday and third‑party systems.
- Troubleshoot complex issues related to configuration, integrations, and overall Workday functionality.
- Mentor and support team members, including Senior Workday Consultants.
- Work with senior HR stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
- Collaborate with technical leads, architects, and project managers to deliver projects on time, within scope, and to quality standards.
- Oversee integration points with other enterprise systems to maintain accuracy and data integrity.
- Conduct thorough testing and validation of configurations, integrations, and reports.
- Produce and maintain detailed technical documentation.
- Ensure daily operational support meets agreed SLAs.
- Partner with architecture teams to align on system design and longer‑term roadmaps.
- Stay current with new Workday features and guide stakeholders on how to adopt them effectively.
- Promote a collaborative, customer‑focused, and team‑oriented working environment.
- 5+ years’ experience as a Workday Consultant with strong expertise in configuration and change management.
- Hands‑on experience with at least two Workday modules and reporting (live environment includes HCM, Core & Advanced Compensation, Talent, Absence, Time Tracking, and Recruiting).
- Strong understanding of Workday Business Process Framework and security configuration.
- Proven experience managing RFCs and delivering enhancements in a live Workday environment.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Workday certifications in relevant modules.
- Experience working in large, complex, or global environments.
- Familiarity with enterprise integration landscapes and associated technologies.
- Strong documentation and knowledge‑sharing capability.
