Position: Project Manager Principality Stadium ·

As a WRU Project Manager you will act as an enabler and advisor, embedding the foundations of project excellence in a pragmatic, human way, helping our business grow stronger, not slowing it down. In doing so, you will help us build a unified culture through actively uniting our people behind common goals and inspire passion for our work, our customers, and our future direction.

You will provide hands on project management on key projects whilst acting as a trusted business partner, helping teams identify their projects, plan effectively, manage risks, and deliver results.

You will be the go-to person for the delivery of key projects, operating as both a facilitator and driver of effective project delivery someone who brings clarity, foresight, and structure to the project initiatives both up and down the organisation.

You’ll introduce fit‑for‑purpose governance that adds value, creates consistency, and supports informed decision‑making, while keeping things simple and agile.

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per annum

Location:

Principality Stadium, Cardiff

Hours of work: 35 hours per week. Monday to Friday.

Contractual status:
Permanent (subject to 6‑month probationary period)

The Person Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Solid grounding in project management and PMO principles, with the ability to scale them appropriately for a small business.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ project management experience, managing multidisciplinary projects in growing or early‑stage organisations.
  • Professional project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM, PMP)
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, able to influence, challenge, and support colleagues at all levels.
  • Proactive, self‑starting mindset with a natural ability to spot gaps, opportunities, and interdependencies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an articulate and diplomatic manner.
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience across all levels of seniority.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills with experience of formal project reporting.
  • Comfortable introducing structure without over‑engineering it.
  • Excellent IT skills, specifically Microsoft package.
  • Experience of being part of an emerging or new PMO or delivery function and contributing to its development.
  • Ability to communicate and work through the medium of Welsh is desirable.
The Role

Key Responsibilities , Tasks and Activities
  • Support teams to plan, resource, and deliver initiatives effectively, ensuring risks, dependencies, and milestones are understood and monitored.
  • Draw out and clarify deliverables and scope, translating discussions into actionable project plans and coaching teams to apply practical, flexible project management practices.
  • For key projects, you will be responsible for defining scope, providing key actions plans and risk management to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Skilled at problem‑solving collaboratively, turning ambiguous or unclear project objectives into actionable plans.
  • Be proactive and forthcoming with leadership when risks or issues require attention, offering clear insight and recommendations.
  • Anticipate problems and outcomes, thinking ahead to help teams prepare for potential challenges and impacts.
  • Work collaboratively with Finance and People teams to plan and manage project budgets and resources, monitoring spend, and ensuring the right people and skills are available at the right time to support project delivery while maintaining BAU performance.
  • Act as a business partner to departments, helping identify, define, and plan projects outside of BAU activities.
  • Introduce light‑touch governance that supports delivery maturity, templates, tools, and reporting that are right‑sized for the business.
  • Work with leadership to shape a prioritisation process for projects and initiatives across the business.
