Base pay range

Location: Carlisle, UK
Contract Type: Freelance (Outside IR35)
Payment Options: Ltd Company, CIS or Umbrella
Day Rate: £350-450/day
Duration: 45-week build with potential for extension
Start Date: Mid January

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee a security fencing installation on a high voltage substation construction project in Carlisle. This is a critical role ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of works in a high-risk environment.

Please note: This is not a live substation site
, so National Grid tickets are not required
.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day site operations for the security fencing package.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
    , particularly in high-voltage environments.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel.
  • Monitor progress against programme and report to the Project Manager.
  • Maintain accurate site records, including permits, risk assessments, and daily logs.
  • Liaise with the client and stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Site Manager on civil engineering or fencing projects
    , ideally within substation or power infrastructure environments.
  • Strong understanding of CDM regulations and HSE standards
    .
  • SMSTS certification (essential).
  • Other relevant site management tickets such as First Aid at Work
    , CSCS (desirable).
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple teams and work under pressure.
