This is an exciting opportunity to work in Early Intervention Psychosis team across Cumbria.
This is a full time (10PA) post for an adult for a consultant psychiatrist to provide medical input into the East Adult community Treatment and the Early Intervention in Psychosis teams located at Portland House Team located in Carlisle, Cumbria.
The post holder will provide senior clinical expertise in the assessment and treatment of individuals with complex mental health problems and what are termed as at-risk mental states.

Main duties of the jobThe post-holder is expected to:
- Participate in the engagement, assessment, diagnosis and formulation of patients referred to the EIP.
- Be committed to delivering excellence in clinical care,
- Work effectively with the multidisciplinary community team and in-patient teams.
- Promote the safety and well-being of the patients we serve.
- To respect the rights and the dignity of patients.
- To consider the individual and cultural needs of patients and
- To work with families and carers in the best interest of the patient (in line with the Trust Carers' Charter).

Jobresponsibilities
Applicants should be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the point of interview. Candidates should be suitably qualified, including eligibility for Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status.

Person Specification Qualifications/Eligibility- MBBS (or equivalent)
- Registration with GMC (or eligible to become registered) with a licence to practice
- Included on GMC Specialist Register (General Psychiatry) or eligible for inclusion or included within six months of CCT/CESR
- Approved under Section
12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983 OR able to achieve within three month of appointment - Approved Clinician Status OR able to achieve within three month of appointment
- Possess a CCT/CESR in Psychiatry
- Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field
- Has undergone training in educational supervision
- Has undergone training in appraisal
- Up to knowledge in the relevant field of Psychiatry
- Awareness of current issues and controversies in service provision, mental health policy and legislation
- An area of special interest relevant to the post as demonstrated by publications or presentations to learned societies
