Therapeutic Radiographer
The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a therapeutic radiographer to join our radiotherapy team in Carlisle. The closing date is 18 January 2026.
This role will involve delivering radiotherapy to approximately 1,000 new referrals per year across adult cancers using VMAT, SA and daily IGRT. Training will be provided to develop your skills. Newly qualified radiographers are encouraged to apply.
Interview date: 6 February 2026.
Working hours:
37 hours 30 minutes per week.

- Work on a rotational basis as a member of the radiotherapy team on the treatment machine and in the pre‑treatment section acquiring images and planning palliative radiotherapy.
- Implement and deliver radiotherapy procedures including localisation, imaging, dose calculation and treatment delivery.
- Undertake radiotherapy practice independently and professionally in accordance with all protocols and procedures, with care and accuracy.
- Contribute to holistic patient care as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing specialist advice and information regarding radiotherapy to patients and their carers.
- Participate in student and staff training and departmental activities.
- BSc in Radiotherapy or equivalent qualification
- State Registration as a Therapeutic Radiographer with the Health Professions Council
- Evidence of post‑graduate training or study
- Recent graduation or recent employment as a therapeutic radiographer.
- Required to undertake Return to Practice training and study if out of practice for greater than 2 years.
- Knowledge of modern radiotherapy equipment, systems and techniques.
- Knowledge of quality assurance in radiotherapy, health & safety, IRR and IR(ME)
R legislation. - Recent employment in a large modern radiotherapy centre.
- Potential to progress within the profession.
- Excellent communication and technical skills.
- IT skills.
- Able to teach, train, and motivate others.
- Flexible hours/shifts and ability to participate in the radiotherapy on‑call rota & CHART.
- Ability to work for sustained periods under pressure.
- Willingness to participate in out‑of‑hours departmental activities and projects.
- Positive attitude towards the holistic approach to patient care.
