Overview

Stagecoach Cumbria & North Lancashire operates 303 vehicles over 5 sites and our CARLISLE/PENRITH team are looking for people from a background in vehicle mechanical / electrical engineering to be part of our growing team. You may be in a truck / HGV, rail, light commercial or automotive setting at the moment, but fancy a change of vehicle to enhance your skill-set.

Likewise, if you’ve got PCV experience, you’ll still find new opportunities to learn given the variety of our fleet. Our CARLISLE/PENRITH depots operate a varied range of vehicles from minibuses and double deckers on a daily basis; we operate Alexander Dennis and Optare vehicles. You’ve probably seen some of our vehicles driving around CARLISLE/PENRITH and surrounding area, transporting our fantastic customers across the Cumbria & North Lancashire every year.

Those customers rely on our services to get them to work, to the high street, to hospitals, to days away and nights out – and as part of our engineering team you’ll be a key part in making sure our vehicles are in tip top condition to do just that. It’s a really important role within our depot, so we’ll make sure you’re as looked after as our vehicles are!

Don’t worry if you’ve not worked on these vehicles before (or indeed buses) – we’ll train you on everything you need to know, and you’ll be supported by a great team of fellow Electricians, Mechanics, Technicians and Engineering Managers who all pull together to do a brilliant job. And interestingly it’s not all depot-based work – you could well find yourself out and about dealing with vehicle issues on the road, so it won’t always be the same four walls you’re looking at!

Salary and working pattern:
Monday to Friday, £17.29 per hour.

• Maintain and repair a modern and varied fleet of vehicles to ensure they are in tip-top condition for customers.
• Work with a team of Electricians, Mechanics, Technicians and Engineering Managers; participate in shared problem solving.
• Be prepared to work both in depot and on-road locations to address vehicle issues as needed.
• Take advantage of training and development opportunities provided to progress within the engineering team.

• Background in vehicle mechanical / electrical engineering.
• Experience in truck / HGV, rail, light commercial or automotive settings is desirable.
• PCV experience is welcome; there are opportunities to learn across a varied fleet.
