RPS Tetra Tech is seeking a Junior Data Analyst to join our growing and vibrant West Wales AS&I team, supporting data‑driven project delivery for a range of clients. About The TeamThe RPS Asset, Surveying, and Inspection (AS&I) team provides industry–leading services to the UK Water Industry. Our employees are involved in services supporting Water Networks, Drainage, Surveying, Leakage Consultancy, Water Resources and Efficiency. The team analyzes complex data and provides pragmatic solutions, reducing water leakage and preventing flooding and pollution in local communities.
Our Welsh Water asset management and delivery professionals develop and deliver industry‑leading solutions in flooding, pollution, water quality and leakage. Our team finds and repairs leaks on the network to minimise water wastage, benefit ting Welsh Water customers and the environment.
About YouAs a key member of the AS&I business, your role as a Junior Data Analyst is critical to our strategic priorities – to deliver excellent customer service and execute complex operational tasks. Whether you are just starting out or taking the next step, this position provides an opportunity for career growth with RPS.
You will help our client unlock the value of their data by designing, building, and optimizing business intelligence reports and dashboards that enable smart decision‑making. You’ll work across a diverse range of digital projects and corporate applications, delivering new insights and enhancing existing systems. The role also involves putting data in action and supporting our engineering teams on site. You will report to the Contract Supervisor, be responsible for training and mentoring leakage staff, ensuring best practice leakage methods are used and contributing to leakage reduction and performance within West Wales.
Approximately 50% of the time will be spent in the office, with the rest on site. You must be willing to work weekends, evenings, odd hours, and travel to different locations.
- Adept in developing, publishing, and scheduling Power BI reports as per the business requirements.
- Using exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and outliers in data.
- Mining data from software applications used for investigations, reporting, metrics, and trending.
- Proficient with inspecting, cleansing, transforming, and analysing raw data to discover useful information, inform conclusions, and support effective decision‑making.
- Responsible for designing and building scalable data models and enabling advanced analytic capabilities that provide meaningful business value through easy‑to‑understand data visualisations.
- Collaborating with key stakeholders to deliver relevant insights based on identified business requirements.
- Working independently through unstructured tasks.
- Strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ensuring that Health and Safety is maintained and upholding RPS Company Policies at all times.
- Undertaking training and completing detailed individual training matrix/plans.
- Assessing and ensuring good leakage practice is always adhered to and reporting.
- Working closely with under‑achieving staff to ensure targets are achieved and maintained.
- Attending client meetings when required.
- Trialling new equipment and producing detailed reports.
- Forming and maintaining excellent working relationships with colleagues, contractors, and clients.
- Good understanding and demonstrable working knowledge of computer software packages (Microsoft, GIS, and specific technical programs, etc.).
- Track record of training and delivery.
- Ability to interpret and understand water network schematics and plans to a high standard.
- Strong knowledge of Water Network Hydraulics, Leakage Detection Techniques, Monitoring and reporting of Leakage Levels and other issues associated with the Clean Water Industry.
