This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of Acute Physicians at Glangwili General Hospital. The post holder will develop and deliver all aspects of the Acute Medicine service through the Emergency Department, Clinical Decision Unit and Same Day Emergency Care. There are currently 4.3 WTE Acute Medicine Consultants in the hospital and the incumbent will support the expansion of this service within the hospital and the community, working closely with colleagues.

• Provide acute assessment and treatment of medical patients presenting to GGH front door (Emergency Department, Clinical Decision Unit, and Same Day Emergency Care).
• Provide effective leadership to multidisciplinary staff members in the CDU, SDEC and ED.
• Ensure close working with GP and medical colleagues.
• Provide timely assessment and treatment of patients presenting to GGH with medical conditions.
• Ensure close working between A+E, SDEC and CDU.
• Provide clinical supervision of the SDEC and Emergency Department medical patients.
• Ensure close cooperation with other medical consultant colleagues to develop seamless pathways of care for patients.
• Work with the team to develop 'hot clinics' as an alternative to admission.
• Ensure close liaison with GP colleagues to direct patients to the most suitable service.
• Ensure development, support and training for nurse consultant and nurse practitioner colleagues.
• Provide necessary training and support of junior doctors.

• Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
• On Specialist Register with GMC or CCT due within 6 months of interview date
• Or CESR or equivalent European Qualifications for Specialist Registration
• MRCP or equivalent
• Valid Certified Advanced Life Support Skills

• Appropriate Higher Degree (e.g. MD, PhD, MSc or equivalent)

• Broad based experience in Acute/General Medicine
• Knowledge of UK hospital systems (or equivalent)
• Knowledge and participation in CPD
• Competence and expertise in Acute/General Medicine

• Experience with in the NHS
• Extended experience, research and training in specialty services
• Evidence of above‑average performance
• Additional clinical qualification(s)

• Evidence of participation in clinical audit and understanding the audit role in practice improvement
• Knowledge of risk management
• Knowledge of annual job planning/appraisal review process

• Experience and knowledge of critical appraisal of evidence to improve clinical outcomes
• Evidence of initiating, progressing and concluding research projects with publication
• Research Degree

• Evidence of organising programmes and teaching medical students and junior doctors
• Organisation of further teaching programmes in medical education
• 'Training the Trainers' experience
