We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to provide administration support with the Mental Health Act administration team.
The post holder will possess excellent communication skills, to sensitively handle communications, both by telephone and email and have excellent attention to detail, to enable them to accurately record data on a range of patient and office systems. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate initiative in planning and prioritising their workload, in a way that supports the team.
The role will involve undertaking a range of administrative processes, associated in relation to the Mental Health Act and therefore the post holder must be aware of the confidential nature of this role.
This is a demanding and interesting role and full training will be provided on relevant areas of the Mental Health Act.
As a Mental Health Act Administration Assistant you will- Acquire knowledge of the Mental Health Act and its Code of Practice, as well as other associated legislations to the required level.
- Use sound judgement to seek advice or alert senior managers, clinicians to issues relating to the Mental Health Act, including highlighting detention and treatment expiry dates.
- Ensure all detained patients are provided with statutory rights to information both verbally and in writing by the delegated professionals, liaising as necessary with those professionals, as well as advocates and patient solicitors to support this function.
- Manage departmental diary including co-ordination and planning of Mental Health Review Tribunals and Hospital Managers hearings.
- Work with colleagues and stakeholders in a collaborative way to optimise the use of resources and improve documentation and the performance of standards relating to the Mental Health Act.
- Work within established administrative procedures to ensure records are updated accurately.
Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.
We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.
We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers.
Our services are provided in- Four main hospitals:
Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth, Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen, Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli, and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest. - Five community hospitals:
Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire;
Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire. - Two integrated care centres:
Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings. - 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers.
- Manner numerous mental health and learning disabilities services.
