Activity Co‑ordinator – Healthcare Ireland Group

Join Healthcare Ireland Group in supporting the life-changing care we deliver at Loughside Care Village, a state‑of‑the‑art facility in Carrickfergus with 116 residents. The role is based at the Home and focuses on planning, and facilitating engaging activities that enhance physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.

About Loughside Care Village

Loughside offers a vibrant, village‑style community for people living with dementia, complex care needs or registered mental health conditions. Designed for dignity and independence, it hosts over 200 dedicated professionals and meets the highest RQIA standards.

The Role

The Activity Co‑ordinator works closely with the care team, families, residents and external partners to create and deliver a wide range of activities – from games and crafts to music, exercise and outings. The role requires strong communication, observational and active‑listening skills and a passion for fostering a supportive environment.

Main Responsibilities
  • Prepare, plan and deliver group and individual recreational and occupational activities, observing, recording and reporting resident responses.
  • Engage residents in activities such as games, crafts, music, exercise, outings and social events based on interests and preferences.
  • Set up and organise activity areas, gather supplies, arrange furniture and display materials.
  • Maintain timely and accurate records, case files and computerised information systems.
  • Stay informed about best practices and trends in wellbeing and activities for residents.
  • Undertake any other duties reasonably required by the Home Manager.
Required Criteria
  • GCSE level or equivalent, with a good standard of written and verbal English.
  • Well‑developed communication, observational and active listening skills.
  • Experience in a related field.
  • Right to work in the UK.
Desired Criteria
  • At least 2 years’ experience working in a regulated care or support environment.
