Dewey Plant - Mechanical​/Electrical Engineering Intern

Here's what you will be doing:

• Develop a thorough understanding of all factors and conditions impacting processes and products, including environmental impacts
• Manage assigned internship project using sound project management skills
• Analyze problems and implement solutions using critical thinking and focused improvement methods
• Incorporate creative thinking to identify unique ways to improve quality and reduce costs
• Prepare diagrams, charts, and tables to support findings and recommendations
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with a diverse group of associates to achieve project and location goals
• Participate fully in the plant's Safety Process/Program

The company is looking for candidates with the following qualifications and skills:

• Rising Junior or Senior pursuing a BS Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Availability for full-time work from late May until early August during the summer intern session
• Minimum GPA of 3.0
• Preferred prior manufacturing experience
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to evaluate and optimize manufacturing processes
• Highly motivated self-starter with willingness to take ownership and responsibility
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Desire to continuously seek improvement opportunities in efficiency and automation
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

• Standard work week of 40 hours, 8 AM - 5 PM

• Ability to sit at least 50% of the day
• Ability to stand at least 50% of the day
• Ability to move throughout the plant at least 25% of the day
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. without assistance about 10% of the day
• Ability to walk upstairs or use ladders about 10% of the day
• Ability to bend or stoop about 10% of the day
• Visual acuity adequate for reading printed sources and computer screens as required
• Cognitive ability to make decisions, reason, and understand information as required
