Role OverviewThe Senior Quantity Surveyor will play a key role in the commercial management of multiple civil engineering projects ranging in value from £2m to £20m. Based from the Maulden office, the role involves working closely with project teams to ensure commercial performance, risk management, and successful project delivery from pre-contract through to final account.
Key Responsibilities- Full commercial responsibility for assigned projects
- Preparation, management, and reporting of project budgets and forecasts
- Procurement and management of subcontractors and suppliers
- Valuations, variations, and change control management
- Cost reporting and cash flow forecasting
- Supporting pre-contract activities, including tender reviews and pricing
- Managing final accounts and commercial close-out
- Identifying and mitigating commercial and contractual risks
- Working closely with project managers, engineers, and clients
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering or infrastructure
- Strong background managing projects valued between £2m and £20m
- Sound knowledge of standard forms of contract (e.g. NEC, JCT)
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Ability to work autonomously while supporting and mentoring junior staff
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Relevant degree or professional qualification preferred
