The Old Vic is looking for a Commercial Sales & Event Manager to help grow our venue hire and events programme, maximising income while delivering well-run, high-quality events that reflect our values and commitment to excellent customer service.

What you ll do

  • Be the first point of contact for venue hire, filming and event enquiries
  • Proactively generate and convert leads into bookings
  • Create clear, tailored proposals and quotes that meet client needs and maximise income
  • Manage the client journey end-to-end: enquiry to contract, delivery and invoicing
  • Plan confirmed events in detail, producing schedules and operational documents
  • Coordinate with internal teams (Operations, Technical, Front of House, Finance, Marketing and others)
  • Manage suppliers and partners to agreed standards, timelines and budgets
  • Ensure access, licensing, insurance and health & safety requirements are met (including risk assessments)
  • Support on-the-day delivery as Event Duty Manager or alongside the Duty Manager
  • Maintain accurate records of bookings, pipelines and income to support forecasting and reporting
  • Review events post-delivery and use feedback to improve future activity

What will help you succeed

  • Experience of event sales, venue hire, or handling commercial enquiries in a customer-facing setting
  • Confidence building client relationships and converting enquiries into bookings
  • Experience coordinating event logistics and working across multiple stakeholders
  • Experience managing budgets and costs (scale can vary)
  • Strong organisation, attention to detail, and ability to prioritise to deadlines
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Calm, practical problem-solving during live delivery
  • IT skills including Microsoft Office and Excel (we ll train you on other systems)
