The Telegraph Media Literacy Programme 2026

Join to apply for the The Telegraph Media Literacy Programme 2026 role at The Telegraph

The Telegraph's Media Literacy Programme, which is open to all 16-18 year olds across the UK, provides an insight into what it is like to be a journalist at an award-winning multimedia news brand.

Throughout the course of the four-week online programme, we aim to break down the barriers to careers in journalism, highlight the importance of trusted and accountable news and equip you with the tools and skills to think critically about the media landscape.

Content

Online interactive sessions with a range of journalists from various departments including News, Sport, Beauty, Music, Podcasts and Social Media.

Each week, you will get the chance to practise core journalism skills including headline writing, preparing interview questions and drafting a feature piece.

When

The online programme will run for four weeks, beginning on Tuesday, 3rd March 2026.

Sessions will run from 4:00 to 5:10 pm every Tuesday.

Completing the programme

Upon completing all four sessions, you will receive a Telegraph Media Literacy Journalism certificate. You will also be invited to join our Future Talent Pool to stay up-to-date with entry-level opportunities at The Telegraph.

How to Apply

To apply we would like you to write 100 words on why you would like to take part in the programme.

Please ensure you use your school email address and state the name and location of your school. When submitting your application, please provide the contact details of a teacher, parent/guardian or youth zone representative.

You will be notified of the next steps once your application has been reviewed.

The Final date to receive applications is 5:00pm, 13th February 2026.

Taking part in all 4 of the programme sessions means you will receive a Telegraph Media Literacy Journalism Certificate. This will help with your CV and career planning.

You will also get the opportunity to participate in a weekly Journalism Challenge, where prizes will be available! Please see the competition terms and conditions. You must have permission from a parent or guardian to take part in competitions.
