Barts Health NHS Trust Clinical Fellow (ST3+ Equivalent) in Cardiac Surgery - St Bartholomew's Hospital
Applicants are invited to apply for the post of Clinical Fellow (ST3+ Equivalent) in Cardiac Surgery, which will be based at the Barts Heart Centre for a period of 12 months. The Barts Heart Centre is a unit in London comprising the cardiothoracic units from St Bartholomew's, the London Chest and heart hospitals, and is the largest cardiothoracic and vascular centre in the UK, serving a population of 6 million.
Over 2000 cardiac and 800 thoracic procedures are performed annually by a team of 23 consultant surgeons, supported by dedicated intensive care units, cardiology, respiratory and anaesthetic departments. The role requires full GMC registration with a license to practise and possession of FRCS/MRCS (or equivalent).
Main duties of the job- Support the multi‑specialty cardiac and thoracic surgical team across a full range of adult cardiac, thoracic and adult congenital (GUCH) conditions.
- Participate in a local weekly education programme and may engage in concurrent research and audit projects.
- Attend pan‑Thames training days and courses at the Royal College of Surgeons, where available.
- Work within a resident and non‑resident on‑call rota that is EWTD compliant (band 1A) with internal cross‑cover.

Person Specification Qualifications and knowledge Essential- MBBS
- MRCS / FRCS
- GMC registration with a licence to practise
- BSc
- 1 year ST3+ experience or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years dedicated cardiothoracic experience
- Adequate progression of training and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently
- Research presented or published
- Punctual, reliable, competent with the independent management of medical and surgical problems
- Understands and supports the vision and values of the Trust
- Acts as a role model for senior and junior colleagues
- Team player, able to develop a culture that values colleagues and enables problem‑solving and decision‑making
- Provides a role model for clinical leaders
