Façade Engineering is at the heart of interdisciplinary design. While achieving an aesthetic vision, the ‘skin’ of your building must perform structurally, environmentally, hygro‑thermally and acoustically to achieve beautiful, efficient, and sustainable buildings. It is about providing a holistic solution to multidisciplinary challenges through specialized detailed design. A thorough knowledge of the way in which façades are constructed means a client can trust us with a project from concept design, through to the nuts and bolts of construction, during operation and maintenance of the façade and all the way through to consideration of refurbishment or re‑purposing options.

Whether this is for an intricate design such as the Louvre, Abu Dhabi, or the repurposed Grade II listed Whiteley in London, we apply engineering and surveying rigour.

Whiteleys Redevelopment, London – This multi‑use project in a Grade II listed building combines the design of large precast and glazing systems with historic facades. We support the client in planning discussions and develop innovative glazing solutions that become a benchmark for conservation projects.
Bee’ah Headquarters, UAE – The headquarters embodies an environmentally responsible future with a sweeping curved exterior. We apply our expertise to realise this striking long‑span structure using prefabricated structural steel ribs transported and assembled on site.

• Assist in the technical development of the design based on initial client ideas, advising on materiality and developing architectural details for robustness and aesthetics.
• Deliver work in a timely and technically competent manner.
• Increase awareness of basic weather performance issues, building physics, ventilation, solar gain control, thermal insulation and glare control.
• Help assess and advise on the impact of design decisions in terms of embodied carbon, operational carbon and durability/life‑cycle.
• Develop experience handling and fabricating typical cladding materials and understand the design life of various façade components.
• Inspect existing buildings to diagnose failures or defects.
• Hone understanding of international standards and building codes (British Standards, Eurocodes, International Building Code, UBC, various national standards, ASTM Standards, Saudi Building Code).
• Work with other teams and gain awareness of the constraints of Architecture, Structures, Building Services/MEP, Fire Engineering, Acoustics and computer modelling.
• Develop strong design leadership on façade issues within the client’s design team.
• Improve competency across software such as Autodesk Robot, STAAD, Strand, SAP
  2000, MEPLA and Therm.
• Understand structural principles in key façade types and undertake structural calculations for different façade systems considering building context and location.
• Improve drawing and communication skills using 2D and 3D software.
