An established, forward-thinking building services consultancy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their expanding team. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of innovative mechanical design projects, work closely with multidisciplinary teams, and help deliver cutting-edge sustainable building solutions across the UK.
Your new roleAs a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a leading role in the design and delivery of mechanical systems for a diverse range of projects, including office/commercial fit out and high‑rise residential projects. You'll act as a key point of contact for clients, design teams, and contractors, while mentoring junior engineers and ensuring that high technical standards are consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities- Lead mechanical design from concept to completion across a variety of building projects.
- Prepare and review design packages, including drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Undertake detailed calculations, modelling, and performance analysis for energy‑efficient solutions.
- Ensure compliance with building regulations, CIBSE guidelines, and industry standards.
- Coordinate effectively with architects, structural engineers, contractors, and suppliers.
- Carry out site inspections and attend project and client meetings.
- Support the development of junior engineers through mentoring and technical guidance.
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline.
- At least 4-5 years' experience in mechanical/building services design.
- Strong technical expertise in HVAC design, thermodynamics, and sustainability principles.
- Proficiency in software such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Excel.
- Good understanding of CDM regulations and low‑carbon design approaches.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with proven leadership experience.
