Our client, a prominent player in the aerospace sector, is currently seeking a skilled Plant Maintenance Engineer to join their maintenance team. This is a permanent opportunity to provide essential mechanical maintenance and electrical support, contributing to the reliability and safety of various equipment and facility areas.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and repair all equipment and facility areas to the agreed standard, identifying detailed faults effectively.
- Complete daily checks on machines and equipment, including statutory checks within your capability.
- Work in shifts and provide out-of-hour call‑in support as required.
- Identify and request necessary spare parts proactively.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental regulations, and company procedures during all activities.
- Maintain an awareness and understanding of the company's environmental procedures and responsibilities.
- Extensive experience in plant maintenance, preferably in a similar role.
- Mechanical or electrical background.
- Familiarity with working at heights.
- Knowledge of PVC pipework.
- Good understanding of pumps and motors.
- Preferred understanding of gas ovens, chiller units, and rectifiers.
- Preferred understanding of air handling units and air conditioning.
- Preferred mechanical or electrical qualification.
- Apprenticeship preferred but not essential.
- Ability to understand verbal and written instructions.
- Proficient in using tools and equipment safely.
- Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Effective in managing stress and meeting requirements.
- Competent in dealing with contractors on site.
- Understanding of working conditions and environment in a COMAH site.
- Flexibility in working hours, including occasional overtime during weekends.
- Exposure to various greases and oils.
- Training and use of overhead cranes.
- Knowledge of manual handling.
- Prolonged standing with regular breaks.
- Handling heavy aircraft components and using maintenance components requiring physical strength.
- Eligibility to live and work in the UK without restriction.
- Mandatory training will be required.
