Senior or Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

London (Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 days remote)
Salary:
Up to £75,000 per annum

Therole
As a Senior or Principal Mechanical Design Engineer, you will take a lead role in the delivery of mechanical design solutions across a range of building services projects. You will be responsible for technical leadership, design management, and coordination, as well as supporting the development of junior engineers within the team.
Key responsibilities- Leading the mechanical design process across commercial, residential, educational, and data centre projects.
- Managing and coordinating design activities from concept through to completion.
- Ensuring design quality and compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and client requirements.
- Providing technical guidance and mentorship to project and design engineers.
- Contributing to project planning, resource management, and delivery timelines.
- Liaising effectively with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary design teams.
The successful candidate will be an experienced and driven mechanical design engineer with a proven track record in building services consultancy environments. You will demonstrate strong technical capability, project leadership skills, and a collaborative approach to design and delivery.
Essential skills and experience- Degree‑qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards Chartership.
- Significant experience in the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects.
- Comprehensive understanding of UK Building Regulations, standards, and sustainable design practices.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and client engagement skills.
- Experience in leading multidisciplinary design teams.
- Competitive salary of up to £75,000 per annum, depending on experience.
- Hybrid working model – three days in the London office and two days working remotely.
