Overview

We are looking for a Principal level environmental professional to support our Environmental Management and Assessment Team in the UK, based from any of WSP’s UK offices. The role involves leading environmental inputs to projects across sectors such as onshore and offshore renewables, aviation, nuclear, rail, and more. You will contribute to environmental design, assessment and management across the development lifecycle and work with a range of environmental specialists and design teams.

Responsibilities
  • Lead environmental teams and inputs to project designs and assessments across multiple sectors.
  • Influence, lead and deliver environmental elements of engineering projects from feasibility through to planning, detailed design, construction and handover/maintenance.
  • Manage bids, project delivery, and financial aspects of projects.
  • Provide environmental advice and support to clients, project managers and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with diverse environmental specialists, clients and engineering teams to promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement.
  • Lead large, complex projects and oversee technical, quality, commercial, and health & safety performance.
  • Build client relationships and identify opportunities for resourcing, programming, strategy development and project delivery.
  • Develop new client relationships and opportunities for marketing services and cross-selling, including presenting at conferences on behalf of WSP.
  • Contribute to development of innovative techniques (e.g., Digital EIA, Technical Excellence, Future Ready EIA).
  • Support performance improvement and career development across the team.
  • Promote an inclusive workplace and a health, safety, and wellbeing culture.
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate
  • A relevant environmental degree level qualification in EIA, or similar
  • Chartered Environmental status or active progression toward Full membership of IEMA, or similar professional qualification
  • Excellent experience of EIA processes with ability to work with limited supervision within multi-disciplinary teams
  • Solid knowledge of relevant environmental and planning legislation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and reviewing
  • Experience in large-scale infrastructure projects (rail, highways, energy, commercial/residential)
  • Comprehensive project management skills, including commercial and risk management, forecasting, and quality assurance
