We are currently recruiting a Wardrobe Supervisor to join our Layered Reality team at The War of The Worlds:

We combine live theatre (actors, movie‑scale sets, and special effects) together with the latest digital technology (virtual reality, projection mapping and holograms) plus physical sensations (sight, sound, smell, touch and movement) to create a unique immersive experience that is truly memorable.

You will be self‑motivated with a can‑do attitude whilst ensuring we deliver and maintain high standards of costume throughout this cutting‑edge experience. On a daily basis, this role will make sure that the team are in the correct costumes at all times, ensuring that our guests are completely immersed in the world that is created from the moment they step inside our doors.

Scope

& Responsibilities

Working within the BOH Department as the Wardrobe Supervisor you will be responsible for overseeing the daily running of the department. You will help make and maintain costume and millinery used in our productions, ensuring the costumes look authentic to the relevant time periods. You will support the Wardrobe Manager in fittings and ensuring all costumes are of a high standard ready for performances.

This role involves supporting actors with dressing and occasional lone working. You must have a good level of health and safety knowledge and be self‑motivated, able to take initiative based on a strong knowledge and understanding of the show and work within clear delegated levels of authority. This role will also support other BOH teams where required.

Background & Experience

You will be a highly self‑motivated individual, with previous experience in theatre productions. You will have significant costume experience within a theatre or similar environment, demonstrating excellent sewing skills (both by hand and with machine), and the ability to work with a range of fabrics and textiles. You will have experience working in team leadership and possess strong organisational skills with good instincts.

  • Construction of new costume as per requirements
  • Training of Wardrobe Assistants where required
  • Weekly handovers / check ins with Wardrobe Assistants
  • Aid Wardrobe Manager in research tasks where required
  • Ordering of pre‑approved products required to run the Wardrobe department
  • Sourcing costume items or replacing damaged stock, based on Costume design / existing costumes as approved by Wardrobe Manager
  • Correctly store out of use costumes
