. The role offers a full‑time (37.5 hours per week) position based in the 14‑bed PICU.
Location: The Portland Hospital for Women & Children
Shift times: Monday–Sunday (flexibility required to work long days, nights & weekends)
Salary: Competitive + Benefits (pension, health cover, flexible benefits, and excellent career development). Additional £3,000 on your salary per annum as per PICU qualification and, for a limited time, a £10,000 welcome bonus (T&Cs apply).
ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior Staff Nurse you will take responsibility for the unit in the absence of the Sister/Charge nurse, develop, implement and evaluate holistic care plans, mentor junior nurses, and collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team. You will champion collaboration, support, and growth, and contribute to ongoing quality improvement.
What you’ll bring- NMC Child Registered Nurse (RN Child / RSCN) with immediate paediatric life support
- Post‑graduate experience working in a PICU setting
- Understanding of safeguarding issues
- Teaching and mentoring experience desirable
- Completion of a PICU Course equivalent to 60 credits
- Excellent clinical governance and experience with audits
- Experience in supervising and assessing students; shift‑leading desirable
