Head of Product – AI

A1 is a self-funded AI group, operating in full stealth. We’re building a new global consumer AI application where product decisions are inseparable from model behavior, system constraints, and real user outcomes.

This is a founding product leadership role. You will own the end-to-end AI product strategy - translating complex AI capabilities into scalable, reliable products, while working deeply with ML and engineering teams. This is not a traditional PM role. It requires strong technical judgment, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to make hard tradeoffs in imperfect systems.

• You shape how model capabilities turn into real user value

• You ensure product ambition stays aligned with technical reality

• You own AI product quality across UX, reliability, and outcomes

• You influence the direction of the company’s earliest and most critical use cases

• Own the end-to-end AI product strategy, grounded in technical feasibility

• Translate model capabilities, data constraints, and evaluation results into clear product decisions

• Make hard tradeoffs across quality, latency, cost, reliability, and UX

• Work daily with ML, backend, and mobile engineers on design, evaluation, and iteration

• Define success metrics and feedback loops across offline evaluation, online testing, and human feedback

• Drive execution with clear specs, risk awareness, and disciplined prioritization

• Ensure AI features ship fast, safely, and reliably into production

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field
  (Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Math with CS-heavy coursework)

• Strong understanding of:

  • Algorithms and data structures

  • System design

  • ML fundamentals

• Hands-on exposure to AI systems, including:

  • LLM-based products

  • Model evaluation

  • Prompt or pipeline iteration

• Ability to reason about:

  • Model limitations

  • Hallucinations

  • Bias and drift

• Comfortable reading, reviewing, and discussing technical design documents

• 6+ years of product experience

• Proven ownership of complex, technical products

• Experience working closely with senior engineers and ML teams

• Strong judgment and decision-making under uncertainty

• Experience shipping AI-heavy consumer products

• Background as an engineer or strong technical PM

• Experience defining evaluation metrics for ML systems

• Strong intuition for AI UX patterns and failure handling

• Prior experience in zero-to-one product environments
