Job DescriptionAs a Life Claims Assessor, you’ll manage individual protection claims from initial notification through to final settlement. You’ll assess claims in line with client philosophy and policy terms, ensuring decisions are fair, evidence‑based, and delivered with speed and accuracy.
You’ll communicate regularly with customers, intermediaries, doctors, service providers, reinsurers, and the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). Your role will also involve resolving appeals and complaints, building relationships, and contributing to continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Assess life insurance claims in accordance with policy terms and industry guidelines
- Manage claims from notification to settlement within agreed authority levels
- Communicate with customers, intermediaries, and service providers via phone and email
- Obtain additional information to support claims decisions
- Explain claims requirements and outcomes clearly and professionally
- Resolve appeals and complaints with empathy and efficiency
- Collaborate with internal teams including Underwriting, Actuarial, and Client Services
- Contribute to innovation and process improvement in claims operations
- Maintain high standards of customer service and compliance
