Job Description

Faststream has been exclusively appointed by The Dry Bulk Centre of Excellence (DBCE) to partner in their search for a Managing Director.

The DBCEis a not-for-profit, independent startup dedicated to driving innovation, knowledge sharing, and best practices across the global dry bulk shipping industry. With a mission to create lasting, positive change, DBCE aims to become a trusted hub for insight, thought leadership, and sector collaboration. Their focus is on commercial relevance, digital engagement, and sustainable industry impact.

We are seeking a strategic, hands-on Managing Director to launch, lead, and scale DBCE through its early-stage development and beyond. You will be responsible for defining and executing the organisation’s vision, growing the subscriber and supporter base, and delivering real value to the industry. As the face of DBCE, you will engage closely with key stakeholders—shipowners, charterers, managers, operators, and investors—to ensure the platform becomes an essential part of the dry bulk ecosystem.

You’ll oversee a small, agile team and work closely with the Board of Directors to deliver commercial sustainability within three years.

Key Role Responsibilities
  • The key role responsibilities are as follow;
  • Shape and deliver DBCE’s strategic vision, driving long-term growth and relevance.
  • Establish DBCE as a trusted, high-impact platform across the dry bulk industry.
  • Grow and engage the subscriber base while adapting to evolving market needs.
  • Build strong relationships with shipowners, charterers, managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Represent DBCE at key global events and act as a visible advocate for the sector.
  • Develop revenue models and partnerships to secure financial sustainability within three years.
  • Identify funding opportunities and work closely with the Board to deliver on financial goals.
  • Lead the development of a compelling digital presence and content offering.
  • Use data-driven marketing and engagement tools to attract and retain subscribers.
  • Oversee governance, reporting, and operational efficiency.
  • Manage budgets and support a small, agile team to deliver DBCE’s mission.

On offer is a highly attractive remuneration package and a rare opportunity to take the helm of a purpose-led, high-potential initiative at a pivotal moment for the industry.
